Neutral 50th Birthday Party
My Step-mom, Paula, turned 50 in October 2023 and I wanted to make sure she was celebrated in the best way possible. She is one of those women who will go the extra mile for anyone so I wanted to do the same for her.
While she and I have a lot in common, our color palettes differ slightly, or a whole lot. I am very much a bright pink, blue, green gal and she’s more neutral and autumn colors. There is nothing wrong with that but I had to make sure I didn’t let my love for bright colors overtake her party.
As always I started with a custom Life Logo to help make the rest of the party planning more simplified.
Paula’s Life Logo included some of the icons we think of when we think of her such as a chicken, not only because we always had pet chickens growing up but because she has a catering company with my Dad called, The Scarlet Hen. Some other details include her favorite flowers, sweet treats, and three dog paw prints to represent her three fluffy dogs.
Since Dad and Paula are “the food people” I knew I didn’t want to hire another company to cater meal so I decided on a Sunday afternoon with finger foods and buffet of her favorite sweets made by family members and friends. There was also an ice cream bar set up by Buttercups Ice Cream & Beverages. I think that was the hit of the party for sure.
We had very limited time to set up and I am 100% one of those people who need to just do it rather than explain what I have in mind when I am on a time crunch. I knew going in that time would be limited so when I was planning through the food table I decided to use these clear acrylic trays because they allowed me to prep the bulk of the food the night before and leave them in the refrigerator until it was party time. Then the day of the only things added to the trays were crackers and items that would not have done well in the refrigerator.
Overall I think the party was a great way to celebrate a birthday milestone!
